Five For Free #93

Soccer 96 - Call To Arms

Kicking things off (pun intended) are Brighton/London duo Soccer 96 who mix 8-bit electronics with post punk to make a harsh but giddy sounding assault of drums and glitches. They've been together since 2009 and released their self-titled mini album earlier this year. Taken from it is the frantic clatter of 'Call To Arms' which is free below and you can also grab a load of remixes for free on their bandcamp page.

Like Spinning - My Window

Anglo-Norwegian band Like Spinning are purveyors of harmony rich indie-folk that will nestle nicely into you collection somewhere between First Aid Kit and Fleet Foxes (sound-wise, not alphabetically obviously). This dreamy track from recent double A-side single 'My Window' can be downloaded for free. It's a luscious, drifting and soothing treat for the ears and offers a few minutes of pure escapism.

PRJCTS - Let It Bang

This vowel-avoiding duo are from LA and have been making music together for over a year now as PRJCTS. Single 'Let It Bang' is a bit of a sly one, starting off as though it's intending to be fairly uneventful, then halfway through you realise it's steadily morphed into a huge and driving piece of funky electronica that should be slaying the ears of radio DJs everywhere.

The Pauses' - Don't Wake Me Up

Florida quartet The Pauses' (note the apostrophe, it's pronounced The Pauseses) have a new release sceduled for September, but before then they've donated 'Don't Wake Me Up' as a free sample from a mammoth various artists compilation to raise medical funds for Jason Noble, a figurehead of the independent music scene. So grab this free and then head over and give the album a whirl from the link below.

Jeremy Panda - I Am Not A Dream

Jeremy Panda has been an important part of Toronto's music scene for several years now, appearing on many records including those by Owen Pallett and The Dunes, but here he's stepping out alone and has just released his debut solo album 'Son Ame Feliz'. Check out excellent free track 'I Am Not A Dream' in which some poor drum kit gets a right good seeing to.
