Anna Rose - Electric Child

Single review by kev@thesoundofconfusion.co.uk

It's been a while since we last featured Anna Rose. Back in the summer the New York singer-songwriter brought us news that her second album 'Behold A Pale Horse' would be released later in the year. For one reason or another it's been put back and can now be expected a little later in 2013. Whatever the reasons for the delay it doesn't appear that any lack of tunes or talent has anything to do with it. The album's title-track was a surprisingly rich blues-rock number that showcases a fine set of pipes.

This new track should tide us over until the the full-length sees the light of day. This is fearsome blues-rock once again, like Jack White producing Janis Joplin. Anna Rose's voice is a hell of a force and the simple, thundering drum beat recalls The White Stripes at their most primal. It's more a raging bull than a pale horse and follows in the tradition of the great delta blues singers of the early 20th century but brings the sound right up to date. We'd absolutely love to hear Rose collaborate on something truly raw with The Jim Jones Revue, they both share that great understanding of natural power.
